Chief Executive John Lee on Tuesday said Hong Kong would make use of the Apec Finance Ministers’ Meeting to showcase its comprehensive development. Delivering a speech at a Greater Bay Area-themed summit, he said the two-day meeting – that is being staged in the SAR for the first time – is of great significance for the city to leverage its financial strengths. “Hong Kong will leverage the high-level international platform of the Finance Minister’s Meeting, to draw on its experience as an international financial centre to showcase to 21 Apec member economies, finance officials, representatives of international groups, as well as the wider international community, our comprehensive development in areas including the economy, finance and society," he said. "We will also introduce Hong Kong's advantages as a centre city in the Greater Bay Area that connects national and international opportunities.” The CE thanked Beijing for its recognition of the city’s status as an international financial centre, allowing it to host the event ahead of the main summit – the Apec Economic Leaders' Meeting – in Shenzhen next month. This is of great significance for Hong Kong to serve China's year in Apec, he added. The Apec Finance Ministers’ Meeting will kick off in Wan Chai on Tuesday. Edited by Tony Sabine
